This is a joint-event will focus on biomethanization and on environmental technologies (waste and water treatment, soil remediation and bioenergies).

The event will be divided in 2 parts: First, a scientific and technical workshop on biogas will be organized by the CRIBIQ; Second, a networking event organized by BioTech Montreal will take place to consolidate the discussions initiated at the workshops.

Event description

Part I (CRIBIQ): Biomethanization workshop

The CRIBIQ, in collaboration with the CNETE and Biopterre, organized in October 2011 a symposium on anaerobic digestion in Rivière-du-Loup that has attracted 130 professionals. Three priorities with biogas in Quebec were raised after this conference to accelerate the development of bio-industrial sector in Quebec. In order to prioritize future development paths of biogas in Quebec, a scientific and technical workshop will focus on 3 prioritized topics:

1. How to develop an integrated vision of the anaerobic digestion sector
2. Development of the agricultural anaerobic digestion sector
3. Developing an energy strategy around anaerobic digestion

This event will conclude with a visit of the anaerobic digestion laboratory and pilot plant located at the BRI-NRC.

Part II (BioTech Montreal): Networking session

Following the workshops, the networking event will start with a short talk given by Dr. Serge Guiot (Head of the Environmental Bio-Engineering group, National Research Council,Montreal) on bioenergies and waste to energy strategies.
Thanks to the suggestions and feedback that we received during our last event, the entire supply chain (upstream and downstream) of environmental activities will be invited to join us. We also hope for the presence of more people involved in municipal waste and water treatment. Moreover, environmental nanotechnology will also be invited.
